As an important means of transportation, cars are used more and more widely, and the performance requirements of internal parts of cars are getting higher and higher. This not only affects the life of the car, but also affects safety issues. Car connecting wires are wires inside the car that can be used for batteries. For current transmission of instruments, lights, etc., car connecting wires require cold resistance. Poor quality car connecting wires cannot meet such requirements. So, let’s learn about the types and selections of car connecting wires!

Car connecting wires are different from ordinary household wires. Ordinary household wires are copper single-core wires with a certain hardness. Car connecting wires are copper multi-core wires. Several to dozens of soft copper wires are wrapped in plastic insulating tubes ( PVC), which is soft and not easy to break. Due to the particularity of the automobile industry, the manufacturing process of lanes is also special than other ordinary lines.
Car connection lines are functionally divided into two types: power lines that drive actuators (actuators) and signal lines that transmit input commands from sensors. Power lines are thick wires that carry large currents, while signal lines are thin wires that do not carry power ( Optical Fiber Communication).
The cross-sectional areas of the leads for motor drivers are 0.85, 1.25mm2, and the cross-sectional areas of the leads for power circuits are 2, 3, and 5mm2; on the other hand, special circuits (starters, alternators, engine grounding, etc.) have 8, 10, and 15 , 20mm2 of different specifications. In addition to considering the electrical performance, the selection of automobile connecting wires is also restricted by the physical performance when mounted in the vehicle. For example, the wires that span the doors and body of a taxi that are often opened and closed should be made of wires with good flexibility. In recent years, electromagnetic shielded wires for weak signal circuits have also increased.
With the increase in car functions and the widespread application of electronic control technology, the number of circuits and power consumption in cars have increased significantly, and wiring harnesses have also become thicker and heavier. How to configure more wiring harnesses more effectively and rationally in the limited car space? Making automobile connecting wires play a greater role has become a problem faced by the automobile manufacturing industry.
There are two types of automobile connecting wires: high-voltage wires and low-voltage wires. They are all made of copper multi-core wires. The cross-sectional area of the wires is mainly selected according to their working current. When producing electrical appliances with small currents, the cross-sectional area of the wires must not be less than 0.5mm2 to ensure that The wire has a certain mechanical strength. Since the starter is a short-term action, in order to generate enough power when the starter operates normally, the voltage drop caused by every 100 amps of current on the line must not exceed 0.1v-0.15v, so the wire used The cross-sectional area is larger.
The withstand voltage of automobile connecting wires is very high, generally required to be above 15kv, so its cross-sectional area is small (because the current is small). It is about 1.5mm2. The thickness of the insulation layer is much thicker than that of low-voltage wires. It is mostly insulated with rubber and then wrapped with paint-impregnated cotton. The selection principle of automobile wiring is determined by the insulation degree of the wire, the current passing through and the required mechanical strength. For electrical equipment that runs for a long time, you can choose a wire with 60% of the actual current carrying capacity; for electrical equipment that works for a short time, you can choose a wire with a current carrying capacity between 60% and 100%. Automotive systems are powered by low voltage, with large operating current and large voltage loss. Excessive voltage loss will affect the normal operation of electrical equipment. When conducting wire cross-section and selection, the voltage loss must not exceed a certain value. The 12V system is below 0.5V and the 24V system is below 1.0V. The actual working current of the wire is not allowed to be greater than the allowable volume of the wire. Ampacity.
