Wires and cables are tools for transmitting electrical energy and are an indispensable and important component.

Wires and cables are wire products used to transmit electrical (magnetic) energy and information and realize electromagnetic energy conversion. Wires and cables in a broad sense are also called cables. Cables in a narrow sense refer to insulated cables, which can be defined as a collection of the following parts: one or more insulated cores and a cover that each core can have, the entire protective layer and the outer protective layer. Wires and cables can be divided into the following five categories according to their uses:
1. Bare wires and bare conductor products
The main feature is pure conductor metal without insulation and sheath layers, such as steel-core aluminum stranded wire, copper-aluminum busbar, electric locomotive wire, etc. The processing technology is mainly smelting, rolling, drawing, and other pressure processing. The products are mainly used in suburbs, rural areas, user main lines, switch cabinets, etc.
2. Power cable
The main feature is to squeeze (bypass) the packaging insulation layer outside the conductor, such as overhead insulated cables, or several unit stranded wires corresponding to the merchant ships, neutral wires and ground wires of the power system (equivalent to the merchant ships of the power system) , neutral wire and ground wire). Add a sheath layer, such as an overhead insulated cable with more than two cores, or add another sheath layer, such as plastic/rubber sheathed wire and cable. The main process technologies include drawing, stranding, insulation extrusion (wrapping), cabling, armoring, sheath extrusion, etc. There are certain differences in the different process combinations of each product. The products are mainly used for transmitting, distributing, transporting, changing, and transmitting strong electricity on power lines for large currents (tens of amps to thousands of amps) and high voltages (220V to over 500kV).
3. Wires and cables for electrical equipment
The main feature is that there are many varieties and specifications and a wide range of applications. The voltage is commonly used below 1kV. Fire-resistant wires and cables, flame-retardant wires and cables, low-smoke halogen-free cables, termite-proof, mouse-proof wires and cables, oil-resistant, cold-resistant and temperature-resistant. Wear-resistant electric cables, medical agricultural and mining electric cables, thin-walled electric wires, etc.
4. Communication cables and optical fiber cables
The main features are wire and cable products that transmit audio and various communication information above audio, including local telephone cables, long-distance symmetrical communication cables, coaxial communication cables, telephone equipment cables, various communication lines, etc. The main materials are stainless steel and plastic, which have the advantages of large capacity, small size and light weight.
5. Winding wire
Main features: Cutting magnetic lines of force in the magnetic field in the form of windings to generate current or using wires to generate magnetic fields is called windings. These include enameled wires, filament-wound wires, weapons insulated wires, etc. with various characteristics.
